My Vision for Division 6
Yes my friends, we are a City, But that doesn’t mean concrete skyscrapers and an ocean of tiled rooves.
This city needs a council with vision for all residents, not just ratepayers. A vision that will encompass lifestyle, opportunity, environment, education and certainty.
We need to protect our waterways, our islands our wildlife, our lifestyle.
We need to build a strong foundation, serious thought to our future leaders, involve our youth in planning. Give them certainty, that there is a future for them and their families in our city.
This city is only just surviving on local support. Our island network is our tourism pearl. What have we seen over the last 4 years, numerous surveys, multiple reports. More importantly, NO positive action. Remember, without external money our City of Redland will succumb.
Small businesses are hurting, red tape, beaurocracy, unfair rate structure, all factors evident in businesses closing and moving elsewhere.
Our City needs:
- A council that wont shy from making serious, real decisions
- A council to develop and implement a real plan for the future.
- A plan that focuses on lifestyle and opportunity
- A plan that respects significant cultural and heritage values.
- A plan that addresses retirees and our youth.
- A plan that won’t take 20 years to implement, but will last a lifetime.
This City needs serious people to do a serious job.
Back home in Division 6.
Let’s get serious about Mt Cotton Rd.
In the words of Bob Dylan:’ How many deaths will it take’, the state will not act until they are pushed and shoved into commitment. I will be the noisiest squeak, relentless, endless.
We need a safety plan for parents and students entering and leaving Mount Cotton State School.
Walking trails and pathways, along with Heritage information centres.
I have heard the people, 27 years of business and I have never witnessed the frustration, uncertainty and lack of confidence as I have seen over the past 4 years. I do not take my nomination lightly. I am passionate about our city.
Friends we need a council with strong leadership, real planning, intelligent and seriously committed people, delivering, not dancing for the well being of Redland City.
